Workshops

For Schools

The BARC offers a workshop focused on teaching participants how to write and refine high-quality and legally compliant functional behavior assessments (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP). Workshops include a lecture-based teaching model during which FBAs and BIPs are discussed in detail and reference materials (provided upon completion of the workshop) are reviewed.

For Clinicians

The BARC offers a variety of workshops designed for clinicians that focus on how to conduct assessments of clients current skill level (e.g., ABLLS-R), identify and evaluate potential
reinforcers, conduct FBAs, design function-based treatments, write BIPs, assess and treat food refusal or selectivity, and teach a wide range of early-learning and social skills.

For Parents

The BARC offers a variety of workshops designed for caregivers that focuses on teaching children with developmental disabilities a variety of skills such as imitation, increasing eye contact, compliance with grooming procedures (e.g., nail, hair), increasing the variety of foods a child consumes, reduction of problem behavior (e.g., tantrums, aggression, self-injury), and toilet training.

School Consultation

To address the need for behavioral services, the BARC offers school-based consultative services in which a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) from the BARC at the University of Florida spends an average of 1 day per week on site at the school providing recommendations and support services. Services include, but are not limited to, the assessment and treatment of maladaptive behavior, classroom management strategies, training effective and efficient teaching methods for individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, and the writing and reviewing of functional behavior assessments (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP).

Program Review

To ensure that the most effective and evidence-based services are being provided, BARC offers to conduct a systematic review of programs related to skill acquisition and treatment of problem behavior. BCBAs working in schools, clinics or client’s home will be given direct feedback and training on various aspects related to the development, implementation, and monitoring of assessment and intervention programs for skill acquisition and problem behavior.
